We don't own our City Hall building, but I am happy to report that it is still a positive representation of our City's commitment to sustainability! Here is what our City Hall property management company is doing to "go green." This comes from Robyn Roy, Property Assistant at RPO Property Management:
Recycling
• We are currently working with American Recycling of GA to kick off a new recycling program in May, 2009. We will be scheduling a kick off meeting in the coming weeks so stay tuned!
• Light Bulb recycling - All lamps are recycled to reduce mercury pollution
• All tenant spaces are outfitted with fluorescent T8 and T12 lamps to increase energy efficiency
Green Cleaning
• All cleaning cleansers are mild with green seal approval
• Green Equipment with high particulate capture rate. Efficient water usage recovery.
Sustainable Purchasing
• Hand towels are 50% recycled fiber content and toilet tissue is 44% recycled fiber content - both exceed the EPA standard
• All on-going consumables and durable goods that are purchased are reviewed for green alternatives; Green Seal, Energy Star, post consumer recycled content and rapidly renewing resources.
Landscaping
• Diversion of landscape waste - Debris is sent off and composted or shredded.
• Outdoor Integrated Pest Management Program - uses targeted controls for plants, fungi, pests, animals. Chemical use is negligible.
• 50%+ organic fertilizer used at the properties
Alternative Commuting Transportation
• Reducing the number of conventional auto trips by providing mass transit solution - Perimeter Center Shuttle in addition to MARTA
Environmental Tobacco Policy
• All designated smoking areas are 25 ft. or greater from the building air intakes and entryways.
